Reflection Week | Day 4

Today is the very last day of 2018. I am sure that, like myself, at some point today you’ll ask yourself where the year went. Life moves at its own pace, sometimes at super speeds, sometimes so slowly.

Wherever you find yourself today, I pray you slow down and reflect. Today’s reflection is short, but still thought provoking I think. Here you go:

This new year, what do you need to honor or keep sacred in order to walk more freely in how the Father is leading you?

Picking up things means your hands can get full, and if we’re not paying attention, we can end up holding too much. It often means that other things are left untouched. Sometimes the stuff we pick up acts as a distraction from the work God is asking us to do. It’s not a bad thing to do it, but it can turn if we aren’t careful.

I picked up a lot of things this year. Some of them because I was able, some of them because they needed to be done, most of them because I desire to serve His Kingdom with what I have. I wouldn’t say that it ever became unhealthy, but I can say that, if I continue to not honor boundaries and what I perceive the Lord pointing me to, I might easily begin skipping down a rabbit trail.

In 2019, I need to honor healthy boundaries. I need to be as close to certain as possible before I pick something up, lest it distract me from where I am going. I need to pray more about what it is that I am saying yes to. I need to listen for His “Yes!” before I proceed. I need to remember my first ministry more, my family; to be attentive to how I am not honoring it, and be active in keeping it sacred.
