There is freedom when you slow down to enjoy the real and full things of life. This week, I registered my almost 5 year old baby for kindergarten. The day before, we spent the day picking up the necessary items (shot records, birth certificate–yes, she’s almost 5 and we didn’t get hers right after she was born), etc. We lunched and then went shopping for fingernail polish. She picked a fabulous pink and an extra with pink glitter to top it off. She was on her best behavior and then we came home and did our toes together. She relished in it…I did too.
As I registered her at the school, there were moms that were having a bit of an emotional melt down registering their kids. I didn’t…does that make me out to be a bad momma? She’s so excited to go there and learn all she can. I can’t help but be excited for her. And, yes, she’s my last baby and, yes, my heart is breaking a little…But the seasons change and she’s ready to move forward and onward. I’m so excited to see the places she’ll go.
